Laser data transmission test over ten million miles. That is over about 16 million kilometers. The laser communication between probes and Earth is a promising communication tool. 

Laser communication systems are less sensitive to radio disturbances than radios. That's why the military is interested in laser communication.

The high-power laser communication system can have two lasers that operate at different frequencies. The system sends data using TCT/IP protocol like the Internet. Data packages will be sent by using different wavelengths. 

The ability to use two lasers increases the transmission speed.  Every data package is marked with the serial number. The receiver collects them together using those serial numbers to connect data into one entirety. 

Another thing that makes lasers good tools is that the probe can connect missions of those systems. The laser systems can be used to vaporize the surfaces of the asteroids. And that helps to make the spectroscopy research about the surface of the asteroids. But the same laser system can also communicate with the control center.  The key element is that lasers can be used for multiple missions. 

They can measure altitudes, and vaporize an asteroid's surface material for spectroscopic analyses and the same system can communicate with the control station. The high-power communication lasers can also protect the spacecraft against the small icy particles. If the laser system shoots the ice bite it vaporizes its shell and that changes its direction. And that can deny the impact.

The lasers can increase the power of ion thrusters.

Miniature particle accelerators can make it possible to create new types of cures for cancer. The particle rays are effective against tumors. But things like small cathode tubes. If there are plus and minus ions at opposite sides that thing makes it possible to pull ions on both sides over the layer. And then those ion and anion flow connect behind that suit. And of course, it's possible to create power sources like antimatter and remote energy transfer systems that use radio waves to transfer energy for that suit. If the system is meant to be used in space as a space suit. Researchers can install long solar panels in the suit's back package. And that gives this suit a very long operational range. 

Those long solar panels can also act as aerodynamic wings and the lightweight materials can make it possible to pull them in like origami. The system can hybridize the remote power supply to those wings, and in the atmosphere, the system can use jetpacks that use electric jet engines. In electric jet engines, the electric arc expands and ionizes air. And then magnetic accelerators can transport ions back into the system. Or electrodes on the head can use fake reality that includes virtual hands that make control of those things easier. The thing is that the robot hands could have Wi-Fi connections that make it possible for people can connect themselves to the network.

SETI keeps going and searches for techno signatures. The AI and new sensors are the tools that researchers want to use in that search that can continue longer than a lifetime. Or the search ends tomorrow. The problem is that nobody knows what they searching for. 

Searching techno signatures like Dyson's spheres and artificial pollution is different than trying to make contact with aliens. Technosignatures are passive signals like pollution, city lights, or radiation from power sources. 

The extreme version of the techno signatures is the alien probe, that nobody confirms to keep in warehouses. The probes would be the first crafts that enter our solar system when hypothetical aliens are coming. 

If there is a manned alien spacecraft. That travels in the universe, there would be a fleet of drones or probes traveling ahead of manned units. Those probes' purpose is to search for interesting targets for that hypothetical spacecraft and its crew. The craft would be extremely large. And every maneuver that it makes requires lots of energy. 

And that means the crew will not break it without a good reason. In one vision the Kardachev Scale 3 civilizations and civilizations above that scale can send interstellar spacecrafts with living crews. And if that is true, our home planet is too primitive for those creatures.

There is always a risk. The microbes pollute craft if the aliens try to send manned recon crafts to search humans or if aliens themselves try to land on Earth. Those microbes can be even deadlier than any ebola because our hypothetical aliens have no immune resistance against Earth bacteria. 

So to avoid that risk those hypothetical aliens will not stop in our solar system. And even if they would start to orbit our planet or any similar planet they will operate on the ground by using remote- or AI-controlled robots. The thing makes sure, that any infectious material can split in the alien mothership. 

When we think about interstellar traveling the time dilation can keep the crew alive longer than usual. If the craft uses time dilation to keep the crew operational for an extremely long time, that means that the senders of the craft died a long time ago before the crew reached the other solar system. The craft can have a saucer shape, and there is a particle accelerator at its edge. The purpose of that system is to accelerate electrons or protons to a speed, that is close to speed of light. 

That particle accelerator will make the time dilation in the cabin, and the speed of the craft would be 20-50% of the speed of light. Centuries and millenniums are traveling outside its shell, and the journey would be one way. The senders will not see those crew members anymore.
