Generation ships and protective fields.

 Generation ships and protective fields. 





The journey to Alpha Centauri requires enormous resources. Even if we want to use primitive technologies. That journey requires a complete change in our culture. If we want to make that journey, we must remember that we will never see those people again. The Crysalis is one of the first imaginations or workshops that shows what that system can look like. Another version can be the WARP, which requires technology that doesn’t even exist. So, those journeys to other stars are not a reality, at least in short periods. Periods in those projects are about 100-500 years. The purpose of those workshops and imaginative projects is also to give innovations and ideas on how to protect large flying structures against swarms of small projectiles. 

And one of the things that can get advances is the airships. Or blimps. That can have military and civil roles. In some models, the blip can raise the aircraft. Up from the ground. And then transport them out of the city area. And there those blimps can launch those aircraft. That is one version of the system that can give a solution for air noise. The unmanned airship can also carry drones to the operational area. When a high-flying airship patrols above the sea, it can drop drones to search and attack targets. The problem is that airships can offer a good target to air defense. But ion systems and protective fields can raise their survivability. But there is more. About that thing later in this text.  

The generation ship to the Proxima Centauri system would be the project that changes the entire human culture. The generationship will be the most enormous system that has ever been created. That kind of system has a large mass. The mass of that kind of artificial world causes the craft to have its own gravity field regardless of whether it rotates around its axle or not. That gravity field is much weaker than Earth's, but it's strong enough. It starts to pull asteroids to that spaceship. And especially in interstellar space, that gravity field has a stronger effect than in our solar system. There are no other mass centers, and that craft can pull lots of asteroids to it. The big asteroid can be destroyed by using laser cannons. But small asteroids will damage the spacecraft's shell. 



There is a possibility that the craft has water or ice armour that is easier to repair than metals. But the problem is that the next time those crafts can get water is in the Proxima Centauri system. And that requires a planet with water or some other ice-like substance. Like hydrocarbons. But there are no known planets between our solar system and Alpha Centauri. And there is no chance to trust luck. There is a small chance that a spacecraft meets a water asteroid during its journey.  But would you send thousands of people on that journey and trust luck? The system can build up water in fuel cells. But the craft must not lose any oxygen. 

The craft also requires a magnetic field that pushes ions away from around it. That magnetic field can trap ion whirls around it. The ion whirl can also destroy the smallest asteroids. The power field, or protective field, is the thing that can solve many problems. That thing can deny the impacts of physical ammunition. Those fields can destroy physical particles before they impact the craft. 

One of the answers to those problems is the active protective field. Those protective fields can destroy or burn incoming small asteroids into ash. And vaporize their structure. Some of the solutions that can help spacecraft survive the extremely long journey are the ion fields that rotate around the craft. That means the craft will spray an ion cloud around it. And then that ion cloud will start to rotate around the craft. Those ions smash asteroids into pieces. Another version could be the skyrmion group. That will spin around the craft. Those high-energy skyrmions can break the asteroids into pieces. 










The active protective field can also protect atmospheric satellites and other targets. Like cities against drone swarms. 


The active protection field can also be a good tool. To protect things. like atmospheric satellites and all high-altitude platforms. The high-flying airship can hover above the battlefield. But the problem is. With its survivability. There is a possibility of putting automatic machine guns or some other types of kinetic systems into those airships. And when the system detects incoming missiles. That defense system can shoot that missile. 

The active protection field is a tool. That can make drone defense more effective. Than it is now. The atmospheric version can have two stages. The system can involve the particle cloud that the microwave puts into a very high temperature. Or the EM weapon can heat the missile shell. Then the system injects ultra-cold particles into the missile’s trajectory. And that breaks the shell. Another version is to use a laser that heats the targeted missiles. And then ultra-cold ions. will shoot against them. 

In the atmosphere, the system can use gas whirls or skyrmions that protect the craft's body. The laser weapons. And other kinds of things can bring fully automated airships, or atmospheric satellites, also over the battlefield. Those systems can hover above the operational areas and follow the operation. The problem has always been that without effective defense, those slow systems are good targets for air defense. The skyrmion field can be the answer to the problem. The high-energy ring lightning could destroy incoming ammunition. 

The whirls and microwave systems can also protect entire cities. The microwave system is a good tool for destroying large drone swarms. The system must use so much energy that it breaks those drones’ structures and burns their computers. The acoustic protective field can be in the locked pressure waves. The acoustic field forms when the system sends acoustic pressure signals around it. Then the outside system, which can be the drone swarm, can send counter noise. The idea is that the system forms a soliton wall around the object. Then the electromagnetic system sends radiation to that acoustic dome. That can turn it very hot. This can destroy incoming ammunition and drones.

Could the spacecraft be a cyborg?

 


Some researchers introduced an idea to send genetically engineered microbes to Alpha Centauri. In the most incredible ideas, the researchers send the small probe to the nearest solar system by using laser rays. The laser ray will push that small probe to route to Alpha Centauri. 

Sometimes introduced an idea, that by using cloned neurons is possible to create spacecraft that intelligence is similar level with humans. The problem with those biological computers is the aging of the DNA. And stabilizing the DNA is the key problem in interstellar space missions. 

Cosmic radiation fibrates the genetic material of those cells. That causes damage to the DNA. And this is why there must be something that protects those cells against cosmic radiation. 


There are two ways to make that thing real. 


*The system can use cryogenics. In cryogenic systems, those neurons are feezing in temperatures near zero kelvin. Also, cells that create nutrients for those neurons must be stored. 


*Or the system can use active cells. That requires the closed nutrient cycle that cleans and recycle the nutrient for those artificial brains during long space journey. 


In the most conventional version of this cyborg android UFO, developers store those brain cells in the spacecraft. They will put those cells in the cryogenic capsule. During the long journey, the AI controls the craft. When that craft is near its destiny the AI will melt cells. 

And then they would get nutrients for the mission. In that version, the required information is stored in those neurons. The idea is that the BCI (Brain-Computer Interface) will use to teach those neurons. The system requires a complicated closed nutrient cycle, which is very difficult to make.

Genetically engineered brain cells can transfer memories between humans. 


The idea about genetically engineered neurons that hybridized with fungus as the brain of robots or robot spacecraft is taken from the myth that "some Egyptian god is a fungus". The source of that myth is that ancient Egyptian priests used psilocybin fungus for hallucinations. 

And in some versions, the fungi were some of those gods. Maybe some priests that used those mushrooms too often told those stories. But that myth is used for making models for parasitoid aliens. 

The idea is that the neuron-fungus hybrid can take other creatures under control. And one of the theoretical parasitoid aliens is mushroom-fungus hybridization. And if those neurons could travel between bodies. 

Some futurologists introduced a model that memory neurons that took from the brain or where the BCI-system transmitted information can transfer memories between humans. The idea is that researchers can transplant those cells between humans. And at the same time, the memories travel to the new body. 

That thing could explain the metempsychosis. The thing is that metempsychosis is in this version the memory cells that are traveling from the dead body to the next host body. Maybe that thing is possible in the future.

But could those neurons be awake during the mission? 


In the most incredible versions of that spacecraft, the cloned neurons will control that spacecraft. The idea is that there are three layers of cloned neurons. That are forming artificial brains. The system requires that neurons can get nutrients during the flight. And of course, dead neurons must be replaced by new ones. 

For success, that kind of system must have a closed nutrient cycling system. That system can base on the genetically engineered neurons that hybridized with fungus. The system can use bacteria as nutrients and the cells can have pre-programmed genomes inside them. At first, the cells start their lives as part of the fungus that takes nutrients for neurons. Then that fungus cell transforms itself into a neuron. 

And after that, its mission will be to replace the dying neurons. The system will recycle dead neurons into nutrients for bacteria that are feeding the ecosystem. This kind of cyborg can be possible in the future. And in some visions UFOs:s are machines that are driven by AI or living neurons.

Fictional travel to Alpha Centauri by using laser boosted solar sail

In this text, I would think about fictional space trip to Alpha Centauri by using solar sails, what are boosted with laser or microwave beams. The use of lasers with solar sails would give very much improvements to that system. The problems with laser-systems are that the material of the targeted spacecraft would be heated in extreme temperature, but when we are thinking about the use of lasers as the improve the thrust of that very large sail, we must think this problem practically.


Big size of solar sails would allow that the heat of the laser rays would circulate in the larger area, and that would help to decrease the heat, what powerful lasers would send to the target.  Those lasers, what would be used in that kind of program, might be kilometers long, and they might be stationed near the Earth. Making those kilometers long free-electron lasers or powerful masers is a quite simple thing.


There must send many small satellites to space, and then those satellites must be connected together. In this case, those satellites would be equipped with the particle accelerator, what goes thru each satellite and then those satellites would be made very powerful ray, that can be targeted to the solar sail. In this case, the solar sail would be covered with ice, and that ice is no need to be made by water. Then the laser-ray would steam that ice, and that would improve the speed and thrust of the solar sail. This is the good thing to pump the energy for the spacecraft, that would send to Alpha Centauri in some day in future.  The use of lasers or masers would allow using the power source of the spacecraft with smaller power, and that would increase the system lifetime.


When we are thinking about the structure of that solar sail, we might think, that there would be very many small units in this probe, and it would look like some jewels are connected with the same spiders net and the miniaturization and multiplication of that system would improve the solar sails ability to survive that mission. And when this solar sai comes near Alpha Centauri, it would turn sideways to the star, and then increase the layer, what would face the solar wind of that star.  This would help it to transfer it to the orbital trajectory of that star.


And then it could send thousands of pea-sized miniature probes to the planets of that star. That would seem like science fiction, but using miniaturized probes that kind of mission would be done, and the destruction of one particle, would not destroy all probes, and this hypothetical mission would be accomplished surer than with one single probe.  There is only one problem with that system, those massive lasers can be mentioned as the military technology. And that would cause the resistance against this kind of projects.

NASA:s Kepler-telescope is near end of the fuel, and it can be pointed to some specific solar system for collecting specific data from the specific exoplanet system

NASA:s Kepler mission is coming near its end, because fuel of the telescope is running low, and this means, that this telescope cannot be turned to the targets anymore. Kepler has been found new exoplanets, and it has given information, that maybe there is a habitable planet somewhere in the Universe.


Some people think, that maybe this telescope can be pointed at some point in the universe, where are known exoplanets. This system could be Gliese-581, or some other system, what can be observed from Earth, and this telescope can collect the information of this particular system. Maybe it should be Alpha Centauri, where we're at least founded exoplanets.

But this is only speculation. Kepler telescope has been used to demonstrate low-cost space telescope technology, and it has given very much for science and engineering, and the data what this telescope have been collected, would be analyzed years after its mission have been ended. And this information would be used to selecting targets for James Webb and other very powerful telescopes, what operates outside Pluto trajectory.


James Webb-telescope would represent the brand new design for space telescopes. This telescope has the table, where the telescope optical system stands. This structure allows turn telescope the way, that the guidance rockets would not need use every time when this telescope selects the target. And if those telescopes would send far enough from Earth, the temperature would be very low, what allows use also infrared radiation for making observations for other solar systems.

Cosmic vacuums and gravitational drive.

Maybe. We can never create the WARP drive. That can transport entire spacecraft. But maybe. We could create the dark point in the light wave...
